MCSO clears the beaches and warns Beachgoers of Danger from Algae Bloom
Martin County Sheriff’s Community Policing Deputies are making contact with hundreds of beachgoers today, warning them of the dangers of the toxic algae laden waters rolling up on beaches.
Double red flags are flying at Bathtub and Stuart Beach warning swimmers of the health hazards. Waves mixed with green slime are coating the beaches with algae. Deputies are on foot and ATV’s working with lifeguards to clear the beaches until the algae completely dissipates. The current is moving north, and it is likely Jensen Beach will be closed next.
