Scam Alert
The Martin County Sheriff’s Office is alerting citizens to an arrest warrant phone scam happening in our area.
Residents are receiving phone calls from a scammer who claims they work with the sheriff’s office. The caller will claim to have a warrant for your arrest, and asks that you clear the warrant by paying a substantial fee via cash or Green Dot card.
The caller ID does indicate that the call is coming from our phone number, but our number has been spoofed.
THIS IS A SCAM.
Again, The Martin County Sheriff’s Office will never ask for money over the phone.
If you get a call of this nature, hang up.
