Human Remains Recovered From Gator in Hungryland Preserve

Martin County, Fl (treasurecoast.com) -The Martin County Sheriff has reported that human remains were found last night in the gator infested waters of the Hungryland Preserve in Indiantown.

According to the Sheriff Criminal Investigations Detectives, Forensic Detectives and Florida Wildlife Conservation Officers are searching a large area of the wildlife preserve after body parts were recovered from the grip of “a large gator.”

The remains were found about 3 miles inside the preserve along the bank of a canal that runs through it.

The Martin County Fire Rescue Dive Team searched the canal Thursday for any additional remains. A County Sheriff sniper kept a watchful eye out to protect the divers from gators while they conducted the search.

The Preserve is closed until investigators clear the scene.

The remains have not been identified. There is no indication yet whether foul play was involved. No further information is available at this time.
