I do not think that I am alone when I say that these past months have been a frustrating and difficult time.  We have seen ourselves separated in multiple ways.  We left our offices for remote work or possibly even lost our jobs completely. We lost the freedoms of enjoying our leisure time spending it at the movies, restaurants, ball games, shopping, or more importantly, enjoying our in-person time with our loved ones.  Most importantly, we missed weddings, funerals, graduations, and birthdays. The list of negatives can be overwhelming. However, I am the type of person that likes to think of the glass as half-full instead of half- empty, so, I can appreciate the “upside” to these non-pleasant experiences.

During these past few months, I have had more time to pick up and read that book I’ve been hoping to read “one day”, and more time exploring hobbies that I never had time to experiment with before, clean out my closet, sort several boxes of old pictures and actually took walks outside instead of walking on top of a treadmill while watching tv.  If it weren’t for this pause to my alternate “busy” lifestyle where I left messages on the kitchen counter top to family members or texted in shorthand and emoji’s, I wouldn’t have ended up spending more significant time interacting with long distance relatives and close friends even though it was through video chatting and “heavens to Betsy”, having deeper conversations with my children and husband.

My Thanksgiving hope is that every one of us can ponder on something to be thankful for this coming week.  I realize that it may be truly difficult for some to see the “rainbow” in the middle of a thunderstorm, but it may be possible if you can recall a memory of the most vibrant, most colorful  rainbow that you have  ever seen and know that it will reappear once again, soon.  I hope you will take the time to be grateful for health and the love of family because these are the important joys of our lives.

Happy Thanksgiving to all…..
