High School Kids may be able to take computer coding instead of a language.
High school kids who don’t want to take a foreign language may soon be able to take computer coding instead. Senator Jeremy Ring (D-Parkland) says its vital skill that’s far more important than learning a second language.
But Senator Dwight Bullard (D-Cutler Bay)… who is a teacher in real life… says computer coding is not the same as a foreign language. (is being in the legislature not real life?)
But the opponents were outnumbered and the coding bill passed the Senate by a vote of 35 to 5. A similar bill has cleared three house committees and awaits a floor vote.
