Good News for Presidential Contender Donald Trump

Presidential Election 2016

Presidential Election 2016

A new poll released by Florida Atlantic University is good news for GOP presidential contender Donald Trump, and a bitter pill for former Florida governor Jeb Bush.

The survey gives Trump a striking and commanding lead among Republicans with 47.6 percent of the vote, a 12-point surge from the last FAU survey. He is also maintaining a 70 percent favorability rating among Florida GOP voters.

Texas Senator Ted Cruz is a very distant second to Trump, with 16.3 percent of the vote. Marco Rubio, with 11.1 percent support, is third place. Former Florida governor Jeb Bush had 9.5 percent support, as he continues to poll near the bottom of the contenders.

On the Democratic side of the ticket, Hillary Clinton is strengthening her position, both in the primary and against GOP contenders. She maintains a 36 point lead over Bernie Sanders, with 62.2 percent of the likely voters supporting her as compared to 25.9 percent of them supporting Sanders. The polling also shows that she is either slightly trailing or dead even in a match-up against the republican front-runners.
