Fort Pierce Police investigating early morning shooting
On April 9th, 2016 at 1:50 am on the 500 block on N.31st St the victim was approached by a known suspect.
The suspect started an argument and then pulled out a gun, he shot the victim, Jason James, once and fled the scene. The victim was immediately transported to Lawnwood hospital, where he is listed in serious condition. FPPD Detectives and Patrol units arrived on scene and conducted an investigation. The suspect was quickly apprehended and is currently in police custody. This investigation is still on-going.
3 PM Update from the Ft Pierce Police
SHOOTING UPDATE: The suspect, Kevin Thomas, was arrested on charges of Attempted First Degree Murder, Possession of A Firearm By A Convicted Felon, and Violation of Felony Probation. At approximately 01:38 PM Jason James succumbed to his injury. The charge of Attempted First Degree Murder was changed to Homicide.
