Fort Pierce Police ask you to slow down in school zones!

Fort Pierce, Fl (treasurecoast.com) -The Fort Pierce Police are asking you me everyone to slow down in school zones. I’m not sure why this can’t be accomplished! Also its terrible to get a ticket for doing this. Your money is better spent buying something fun. Right?

Here is the info:
Fort Pierce Police officers are conducting speeding enforcement in school zones as our local children return to school. Please remember, the speed limit is 20 mph when school zone lights are flashing yellow. That is for the safety of our children and it’s imperative that everyone adhere to that speed limit when traveling through active school zones.

It’s also important to remember that speeding fines are doubled if you are caught driving too fast in a school zone. Just this week, one of our officers caught a motorist traveling 64 mph in a school zone and another doing 51 mph. For the record, that’s 44 mph and 31 mph over the active school zone speed limit, respectively.

So please, slow down and make the safety of our local students, their parents and/or guardians, pedestrians and our crossing guards in school zones a top priority! And remember to keep your hands device-free and on the steering wheel. It’s the law!
