A Fort Pierce man died Friday evening after being involved in a single-vehicle crash on Okeechobee Road.
Fort Pierce police officers were called to the 3700 block of Okeechobee at 5:39 p.m. Friday. Investigation revealed that a Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck that was eastbound had crossed into the westbound lanes for unknown reasons, then struck a pole and a palm tree on the north side of the road.
The driver, Roger Odom, 66, of Tangelo Drive in Fort Pierce, was transported by St. Lucie County Fire Rescue to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center, where he died of his injuries.
Investigators are continuing their investigation to determine why the vehicle crossed to the north side of the road and any other factors that led to the crash.
