Some Florida lawmakers want to give firefighters a break if they get cancer.

State Senator Jack Latvala of Clearwater is one of the sponsors of a bill that says any firefighter diagnosed with cancer is presumed to have contracted the disease in the line of duty… which makes it easier to get disability and health care benefits.

Latvala says firefighters have to deal with so many toxic fumes on the job that they have twice the normal rate of brain, liver, colon and bladder cancer
