Fair Housing Survey Opportunities for Citizens and Businesses
The City of Fort Pierce will initiate a series of public meetings beginning in January, 2016 as a part of the update to our existing “Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice.”
The Analysis will identify barriers to equal access to housing and will propose fair and affordable housing strategies to overcome those impediments. The process is heavily influenced by the opinions and perceptions of local residents, and local businesses and organizations, whose input is solicited through public meetings and surveys.
Public meetings will be open to the general public and will provide area residents and local businesses and organizations with the opportunity to express general opinions and concerns regarding fair housing.
The meetings will be held during the afternoon and evenings:
January 2, 2016 – 2:00pm, Fort Pierce City Hall, 2nd Floor Conference Room
January 13, 2016 – 6:00pm, Fort Pierce City Hall, 2nd Floor Conference Room (during regularly scheduled Communitywide Council meeting)
January 20, 2016 – 2:00pm, Lincoln Park Main Street, 1234 Avenue D
Online surveys are available to receive comments from the public and from housing lenders, realtors and associated businesses.

Hardcopies of both of the surveys can be picked up at Fort Pierce City Hall, 100 North U.S. Hwy. 1, or can be mailed to you upon request by calling 772-467-3169.
Input received at the public meetings and through the survey responses will be used, along with data collected during St. Lucie County’s Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice creation, and various data sources, to determine the extent to which impediments to fair housing choices exist in the City of Fort Pierce.
The Analysis will describe the impediments and recommend actions that can be taken to overcome them.
A draft of the complete Analysis will be posted for public comment at https://cityoffortpierce.com/173/Fair-Housing and in hardcopy at Fort Pierce City Hall, beginning in January, 2016.
