On your mark, get set, go …. for the 31st Annual Russell Holloway Track and Field Day, to be held on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016, at Jensen Beach High School.
The event starts with a welcome from Superintendent Laurie J. Gaylord at 8:15am. Approximately 600 students in grades three through five representing all 12 elementary schools and the fifth grade from Indiantown Middle School will participate in field and running events that include the long jump, softball throw, relays and dashes. Volunteers from throughout the District are serving as coordinators, scorekeepers and announcers.
“The kids really look forward to and prepare for the friendly competition, which encourages exercise, physical fitness and healthy habits,” says Larry Green, principal at Pinewood Elementary School who organizes the event. “This is a huge event every year, drawing about 1,000 spectators. It’s a great day for students and the community and we are thankful to our major sponsors, A Treasure Coast Driving School and Lively Orthodontics, who help make it possible,” he said.
Jensen Beach High School is located at 2875 NW Goldenrod Rd in Jensen Beach. For more information, please contact Pinewood Elementary School Principal Larry Green at (772) 219-1595, ext. 101.
