Distressed Bobcat

A sad update on the bobcat which was found in Martin County this week.

Rehabilitation workers now believe the bobcat was held in captivity before being dumped or released. Marks and missing fur from around the neck may be evidence of a collar.

The animal also is undernourished, may suffer from blindness, and has no survival skills. She is also possibly suffering from a severe head injury.

A veterinarian was brought in to examine the bobcat, but so far there is no word on her chances for survival.

The Martin County Sheriff’s Office announced that they are looking into the circumstances surrounding the animal, since it was found near a residential area of Palm City.
