Congressman Brian Mast made waves over the weekend when he told a Miami news program that the South Florida Water Management District board members should resign. Mast appeared Sunday on CBS Miami’s program Facing South Florida. He said that members had been derelict in their duties and should be replaced. This comes after the district agreed to lease land designated for the EAA reservoir to a subsidiary of Florida Crystals. The reservoir is expected to curb discharges from Lake Okeechobee when it is completed. Mast is the chairman of the environmental advisory committee for governor-elect Ron DeSantis. The committee held their first meeting yesterday, and consists of scientists, former politicians, and business leaders.
