FORT PIERCE – Fort Pierce has forged a new crime fighting team with some determined members.

Clergy from throughout the city will come together for a three-day conference, entitled “A City On Alert: Citywide Men Conference”. The event will be held at East Florida Primitive Baptist Church,

located at 3950 Juanita Avenue, Fort Pierce, FL 34946. The conference will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 13, 2015 and Friday, August 14, 2015. On Saturday, August 15, 2015, the final meeting will begin at 10 a.m.

During Thursday’s opening ceremonies, Fort Pierce Police Chief Diane Hobley-Burney will sound the call to action.

“We need their help, we need their prayers, and we need their support,” said Chief Hobley-Burney. “We have to work together to make a difference.”

The daily sessions are intended to provide a platform for the citizens to get on one accord and develop a plan to address the issues plaguing the community like crime, blight, and the lack of jobs.

Elder Gary Robinson, Sr., pastor of Learn of Me Church of God By Faith, said the goal is to encourage and empower pastors, men, and the community to take back our city through prayer, unity, and generosity.

Chief Hobley-Burney said “Our pastors are gifted in caring for the spiritual well-being and serving the needs of our community. They have an important role in bringing change and hope to our citizens. I am honored to be a part of the conference.”
