A Brevard County Judge may have presided over his last case.
The Florida Supreme Court has suspended Judge John Murphy immediately without pay and has given him 20 days to show why he should keep his job
Murphy has been under fire for an outburst in which he challenged a public defender to a fistfight.
The scuffle outside the courtroom was captured by recording devices.
In making the decision, the high court cited Murphy’s refusal to take full responsibility for his actions.
The court ordered his immediate suspension and is moving forward with removing him permanently.
The Florida Judicial qualifications committee, the panel that oversees judges, also slammed Murphy for refusing to take responsibility.
