Boca Raton Man arrested in shooting that injured toddler in Port St. Lucie

Port St. Lucie, Fl (treasurecoast.com) – Port St Lucie Police Department arrested  Mohammad Akib Faiyazin in connection with the shooting of a 2-year-old  in Palm Beach County.
Monday  afternoon Assistant Chief Richard Del Toro and Commander Kacey Donnell announced the arrest of Mohammad Akib Faiyaz, in connection with a two year old being shot in the head last Friday night on June 11th at the Evergreen Condominiums.
Faiyaz was invited over to the home by the victim’s mother, where the two year old gained control of Faiyaz’s firearm at some point during the evening. The firearm was left unsecured near a coffee table and couch.
Faiyaz was arrested today in Palm Beach County, with the assistance of the United States Marshals Task Force. This was after avoiding https://www.facebook.com/PortStLuciePolicePSLPD for 10 days.
“The two year old victim is alert, conscious, and will begin physical therapy this week. The long term prognosis is still unclear”, stated Assistant Chief Richard Del Toro.
Faiyaz was charged with Culpable Negligence and Carrying a Concealed Weapon without a License, both felonies. There is no bond.
