FORT PIERCE – A group of friends and animals set out on a summer adventure as the Fort Pierce Branch Library presents “Bark Ranger” (2015) as part of its Movie Matinee on Saturday, July 18 at 2 p.m.
Featuring Lucius Hoyos, Zoe Fraser, Marty Adams and the voice of Jon Lovitz, this live-action film follows two kids and their trusty dog, Ranger, as they set out on the adventure of a lifetime in search of a forgotten gold mine. The movie is rated PG with a running time of 90 minutes. Best suited for ages 5-10, moviegoers are encouraged to bring a pillow or blanket and are welcomed to bring their own snacks and drinks.
Parents are also reminded to stop by the Fort Pierce Library every Wednesday and Friday at 10:30 a.m. for summer storytimes, along with the Puppet Theater on the fourth Saturday of the month at 10:30 a.m. And don’t miss the Hero Lab on Thursdays (July 9, 16, 23) at 10 a.m., featuring hands-on science experiments for grades K-5th.

- The Florida Bat Conservancy on Wednesday, July 8 at 2 p.m. – Learn all about these mysterious mammals with us.
- Tampa Taiko presents Traditional Japanese Drumming on Wednesday, July 15 at 2 p.m. – Rhythm, melody and movement are woven together in an exhilarating interactive musical experience.
- The Reactory Factory saves the Earth on Wednesday, July 22 at 2 p.m. – Join the Reactory Factory crew and their secret lab for hands-on learning in science, technology, art, math and more.
Be sure to enroll your child in the Library’s Sumer Reading Challenge where they can win free prizes such as Kindle Fire. There’s also the Teen Read Challenge, offering free audio books.
