For some folks, a day at the beach goes hand in hand with having a few drinks, especially on summer holidays.
But officials in Martin County say booze on the beach has become synonymous with trouble.
As of now, anyone of age can bring alcohol to the beaches as long as it is not in glass, but there is now a proposal to ban alcohol on all Martin County beaches and at the Jensen Beach Causeway and Stuart Causeway parks. The parks would also no longer be 24 hours, but would open and close at certain times yet to be determined.
Underage drinkers as well as inappropriate behavior has led to this proposal.
Sheriff William Snyder knows the impact that alcohol has on the county and says alcohol plays a large roll in certain incidents.
Sheriff Snyder also says that there are only a handful of people who cause these problems.
