PSLPD update and info release re accident Walton/Indian River Drive
Port St. Lucie, Fl (treasurecoast.com) -PSLPD continue to actively investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragic accident on Walton Road and Indian River Drive.
They are working to determine why the fault driver struck the other vehicle with such force that both vehicles went over the embankment.
They are not ruling out any possibility including the fact that the driver may have experienced some type of medical emergency prior to the accident. They are not placing a time frame on when This determination could be made. Currently they do not have an estimated speed of the fault drive
The names, ages, and residencies of those involved are as follows:
2005 Toyota (at fault vehicle) Virginia Beattie (5/28/1943). Place of residence Jackson, MI.
2010 Chevy (vehicle at stop sign) Brittany Kohls (6/13/92). Place of residence Port St Lucie, FL
2006 Toyota Truck (vehicle turning) Adam Merce (8/29/1972). Place of residence Port St Lucie, FL.
They have also confirmed that while blocking traffic at the intersection of SE Walton Rd & SE Green River Parkway, a vehicle struck a police vehicle occupied by K9 Officer Bianco and K9 Ciro. Officer Bianco’s vehicle had its emergency lights activated and was blocking traffic. Officer Bianco & K9 Ciro are well. The other driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
PSLPD said their jurisdiction on Indian River Drive is limited to several feet north and south of the intersection at Walton Rd.
They have investigated 5 traffic crashes since January 2020.
According to a CBS12 report Virginia Beattie had been missing since the morning when she did not return from the grocery store.
