Escaped inmate spotted in Vero Beach
Indian River County, Fl (treasurecoast.com)- According to Michelle Bell PIO Okeechobee County Sheriff a call was received at approximately 5:14 pm on Thursday from the Okeechobee Correctional Institution (OCI). They said the subject may possibly be in a missing OCI vehicle described as a 1995 Ford F-150 2-door DC7636 with a black pipe rack over the bed and cab. Both OCI main unit and work camp have initiated escape patrols and activated their K9 team. This case is being worked by the Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office in conjunction with Okeechobee Correctional Institution.

The stolen DOC truck was recovered at the clubhouse in Countryside of Vero Beach, 8775 20th Street. Deputies and Detectives determined that Howton-McLaughlin entered his mother’s home while she was gone and changed clothes. Timothy Howton-McLaughlin was observed on video wearing blue jeans, a blue collared shirt, and black sneakers. He was last seen running east of Countryside into the wooded area.
Inmate is believed to still be on foot in the Indian River County area. Howton-McLaughlin is known to frequent homeless camps in the western portion of the county. An overnight search in conjunction with the Okeechobee Correctional Institute bloodhounds continues.
