Sweethearts and Heroes Strategies Content 16 Bully Body Slam
Several programs exist to help schools and teachers with bullying, and they cover everything from awareness to tolerance. Sweethearts and Heroes is an action-based program, though, and Perspective — with a capital “P” — is one if the solid red bricks in the program’s foundation.
“Perspective is a powerful lesson,” Sweethearts and Heroes co-founder Jason Spector says in this clip below, which is one in series of short videos that were developed to provide you with more information about Sweethearts and Heroes. “You can never have enough of it, in my opinion.”
Perspectives also differ, especially on bullying, and proof of this was evident a few years ago when Australian student Casey Heynes went viral with a video now known as “Bully Body Slam.”
In this video, which is part of the clip shown below, Heynes responds to a bully who is much smaller than he. (Warning: The clip does show a brief assault and might not be for the meek.)
“Bully Body Slam” has caused mixed reactions among those who believe Heynes sent a lesson, and those who think he could have chosen to rise even higher above the occasion by walking away.
