Port St. Lucie, Fl- On April 26, 2019, Port St. Lucie Police arrested 26-year-old Matthew Thurston Maxwell on five counts of auto-burglary to unoccupied vehicles, 1 count of petit theft and possession of cannabis. The auto-burglaries occurred at the following addresses: 2100 Block of SE Aneci Street, 400 Block of SE Dalva Avenue, 400 Block of SE Evans Avenue, and 2100 SE Aneci.
During the investigation into the auto-burglaries, police obtained a Ring Video of the suspect (later identified as Matthew T. Maxwell). Police learned Matthew Maxwell approached the victim’s house (SE Dalva Ave) and knocked on the door after attempting to open the door. Just prior to the auto-burglary attempt at SE Dalva Avenue, Matthew Maxwell had burglarized and stole property from the vehicle located at the 400 block of SE Evans Avenue. When police contacted Matthew Maxwell within the general area; he was in possession of stolen property belonging to the victim located at SE Evans Ave.
Police also learned after Matthew Maxwell burglarized the vehicle at the 2100 block of SE Aneci Street he continued down the street where he burglarized another vehicle (2100 Blk SE Aneci St) and left behind stolen property from the previously auto-burglary.
The vehicles involved in these auto-burglaries were all left unlocked. Police are asking for residents to please secure/lock your vehicles and do not leave valuables in plain view.
