The FHP says that the driver of a Dodge Dakota was heading north on Warfield Blvd. when a semi traveling behind struck it as it began slowing near Tommy Clements Street. Then, a vehicle crashed into a St. Lucie County home Tuesday.
Mike Baumgardner was home at the time, but luckily was not hurt. When he eventually made it out of his Indian River Estates home, he saw what happened, and other neighbors running to help.
The vehicle went off Birch Drive and hit the edge of a neighboring driveway. It’s likely the vehicle then went airborne because the plants, and other items in front of Baumgardners’ home, were untouched.
A neighbor says they have a problem with drivers speeding through that area.
Baumgardner says besides his Jeep, two motorcycles were crushed. Sadly, the driver of the vehicle was killed in the crash. He was identified as 26-year old Michael Ray Smith of Fort Pierce.
The speed limit is 25 mph in the area.
