About Youngs Park

Youngs Park is a waterfront city park on the Indian River Lagoon in Vero Beach, also mapped as A.W. Young Park. It is a wide, open lawn along the Intracoastal Waterway with views of two bridges crossing the lagoon.

Covered pavilions with picnic tables and benches sit along the water. Apart from the pavilions there is little shade, and a short walkway follows the water’s edge. A small island sits offshore in the lagoon, and wading birds such as ibis work the shoreline.

People use the park for picnics, fishing from the shoreline, and watching boat traffic on the waterway. Dolphins are regularly seen in the lagoon here. The entrance and the parking lot are wheelchair accessible.

The 3 Avenues Shopping Center is close by and has Publix, Fresh Market, Panera Bread and Bonefish Grill, so you can pick up picnic food before you arrive. Across 21st Street are the Vero Beach Book Center and Sweet Kiss Ice Cream.

The ocean beaches on the barrier island are a short drive east across the lagoon. More ideas are collected on the Vero Beach things to do page.
