Martin County Sheriff’s Office Agricultural Sergeant, Pat Colasuonno, was on patrol, in the Palm City area, in an effort to deter trespassers going onto private, and state protected property, to pick saw palmetto berries. While patrolling, he came upon this five foot diamondback rattlesnake.
Snake bites are one example of the dangers that face berry pickers. Some other dangers are; heat stroke, dehydration, bee and wasp stings. When you have permission, legally picking berries, please use caution.
