Wanted Pierce County Washington Sex Offender Arrested
Last night, the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office received a call of an intoxicated man making inappropriate comments and taking photos of a female on Wabasso Beach.
Indian River County Sheriff’s Canine Deputy Christian Mathisen assisted by Indian River Shores Public Safety Department Officer Albert Iovino located Edward Butler on the beach.
While investigating the complaint, it was learned that Butler was wanted by Washington for failing to register in that state as a sexual offender.
Butler was arrested and transported to the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office where Sexual Predator and Offender Tracking (S.P.O.T.) Detective Richard Olson interviewed Butler.
Detective Olson verified Butler’s sexual offender status and charged him with failing to register as a sexual offender in Florida. He was also charged with violating the county open alcoholic beverage ordinance.
Indian River County Sheriff Deryl Loar stated, “At this time, it is unclear how long this sexual offender has been in Florida. Butler told our detective that he has been in Daytona, Fort Walton Beach, and other parts of Florida. We know he has been in our county for at least three days. If anyone has had contact with him, we ask that you contact Detective Olson.”
Butler is currently being held at the Indian River County Jail on $10,500.00 bail.
Anyone with information about this sex offender is asked to contact Detective Richard Olson at 772-978-6256 regarding case number 2017-48299.
