Rescue after Boat Ran Aground

Two injured boaters rescued near the St. Lucie Inlet yesterday.

While working a joint agency speed enforcement operation, Deputy Joseph and Officer Wade answered a distress call coming from a 25-foot cabin cruiser that ran aground on the south side of the channel. Two female occupants were injured when they were thrown to the front of the boat during impact. The boat was also taking on water.

While Officer Reed began stabilizing the victims, Deputy Joseph met Martin County Firefighters and transported them to the scene. Paramedics began providing medical attention to the victims while they were brought back to the dock. The injured boaters were then transported to the hospital. Their names and conditions have not yet been released.
