Troy Moody Park honors Troy E. Moody Jr., a Vero Beach High School graduate and U.S. Army paratrooper. After serving in the Navy and attending college, he joined the Army and was stationed in Japan. He later deployed to Korea as a first lieutenant with the 27th Infantry Regiment. He died in combat at the Naktong River crossing on August 11, 1950, at age 25. A memorial plaque dedicated to Moody was also installed in 2012, with an earlier plaque placed on the park’s water fountain.
The park offers a playground, benches, a water fountain, and a paved walkway. It also has a large open space for various activities. Along the walkway, interactive signs encourage children to jump, skip, clap, read, and engage in storytelling. This feature promotes family interaction and movement.
