At 5 a.m., the center of Tropical Storm Erika was located about 155 miles ESE of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic moving toward the west-northwest near 17 mph, moving over the Dominican Republic today and near the Turks and Caicos Islands tonight.
Maximum sustained winds are near 50 mph with higher gusts. Some weakening is forecast today as Erika moves over land, followed by little change in strength through Saturday.
Currently, the center of the storm is projected to come up the center of the state, however we remain well within the cone of probability.
Emergency Operations Centers up and down our coast are closely monitoring the storms and may activate in the next 24 hours.
