A wild game in Viera as Martin County attempted to get the last laugh over their district rival. Viera scored the first 33 points of the game and led 40-7 at the half. But Martin County would rally back in the 2nd half thanks to a huge 3rd quarter. Austin Kuyrkendall threw three TD passes in the quarter while the defense got a pick-6 to cut Viera’s lead down to 11-points going into the 4th quarter. But the Tigers rally fell short, and Viera would hold on to win 53-45. Kuyrkendall threw for 445 yards and 4 TDs in the game and finished his senior season with a Treasure Coast record 3,333 passing yards and 29 TDs.
In the other games, Vero Beach shutout Treasure Coast 35-0. Vero advances to the Regional Finals Friday night when they will be on the road against Dr. Phillips. Sebastian River was crushed by top ranked Mainland 36-7, and St. Edwards fell short in their title match against St. Stephen’s Episcopal 21-14.
