The Stillery Plans Fundraiser for Peyton McCaughey October 2nd
The Stillery, a newly opened bar on East Ocean Blvd. in Stuart, is planning a fundraiser for Peyton McCaughey on Friday, October 2nd.
Peyton, a 9-year-old resident of Palm City, has suffered neurological damage after his family returned to their home that had been treated for termites. Although the building was cleared for re-entry, the family fell ill within hours of returning home. Peyton is currently unable to control his limbs and his speech is severely compromised.
Fortunately, Peyton seems to have retained his personality and cognitive skills. Being young, he may be able to reroute the messages through other parts of his brain to regain some of his motor skills. However, relearning these skills is a lengthy process consisting of daily physical and occupational therapy. Throughout the lengthy recovery process, Peyton’s parents, Carl and Lori, are providing around-the-clock care. The family is in need of financial assistance for mounting costs, including travel, hotels, food, lost time at work, and other needs.
When the Shingary family, owners of The Stillery, learned about Peyton’s poisoning, they decided to take action and raise much-needed funds for the family.
“Party for Peyton” will take place on Friday, October 2 from 6p.m.-10p.m. at the Stillery. The festivities include a live band, karaoke, amazing raffles, cold drinks, and fun times.
“We hope to provide Peyton and his family with the positivity and support he’s relying on to get him through this tough time,” said Casey Shingary.
A portion of the night’s proceeds will benefit Peyton’s family to assist the family with their expenses.
The Stillery is located at 2196 SE Ocean Blvd in Stuart.
