The state is now going after the license of a pest control company at the center of an investigation into the fumigation poisoning of a young Palm City boy.
Sunland Pest Control, a sub-contracted company of Terminix, fumigated the McCaughey home in August for dry wood termites.
After the family returned to their home, the mother, daughter and son became sick, according to investigators. All recovered, except 9-year-old Peyton McCaughey who suffered seizure-like symptoms and spent several weeks at Miami Children’s Hospital before being taken to a rehabilitation center.
The Florida Department of Health concluded that sulfuryl fluoride exposure most likely caused the illness.
Earlier this month, the Florida Department of Agriculture issued a “Stop Work Order” for Sunland Pest Control and also took action Wednesday to revoke the pest control operator certificate of Sunland’s Grenale Williams.
