ST LUCIE COUNTY – The St. Lucie County Board of County Commissioners invites the public to participate in the ribbon cutting celebration for a new open-air fitness center recently completed inside the John B. Parks Sports Complex on Wednesday, Feb. 9 at 9 a.m.

This 1,024-square-foot outdoor facility features seven different workout stations that allow for beginners to advanced athletes to participate in a total, full-body strength and conditioning challenge by leveraging your own body weight to give you a complete workout experience. Funded through Parks Impact Fees (Zone A and B), this $190,000 project was built by National Fitness Campaign, a San Francisco company that partners with cities, schools, corporations and design firms to fund and build outdoor fitness courts to promote a healthy lifestyle.

The new Lawnwood Fitness Court is designed for ages 14 and older. The facility is free to use and open seven days a week during daylight hours. The workout station features QR codes that allows participants to use their smartphones to access video tutorials explaining how to use the various equipment.

Managed by St. Lucie County’s Parks and Recreation Department, the Lawnwood Fitness Court is located inside the John B. Parks Sports Complex, near Lawnwood Stadium and Tennis Courts, 1302 Virginia Ave.
