St. Lucie County Clerk urges citizens and businesses to check for money owed

St. Lucie County, Fl (treasurecoast.com) -St. Lucie County Clerk & Comptroller Michelle R. Miller urges citizens and businesses to check if they are among those owed $160,308 in unclaimed checks. The extensive list includes 530 people who are owed restitution payments and bonds.

“There are claims ranging from as little as pennies to upwards of $15,000,” Clerk Miller said. “Every dollar counts, and I encourage you to visit our website to see if your name or company is owed any money.”

Each year, the Clerk’s office issues a list of checks that were paid but never cashed or deposited. The recipients may have moved and did not update their addresses with the Clerk’s office.

If you believe you may be among the 530 individuals or businesses with unclaimed funds, you may search the list at www.stlucieclerk.com/unclaimed. Instructions on how to submit a claim are available on the website. Download and complete your claim form, then mail it to the address listed. The completed claim form must be postmarked on or before Aug. 31, 2021. Once received, the request is verified, and the new check will be mailed.

The Clerk’s office will issue a separate list of unclaimed funds for business activities connected to St. Lucie County government in the spring.
