St. Lucie County Animal Safety Offers Free/Discounted Pet Registration for National Microchip Month

St. Lucie Fl- St Lucie County Animal Safety Offers Free/Discounted microchips.

Here are the details:

In recognition of June being National Microchip Month, St. Lucie County’s Animal Safety, Services & Protection Division encourages all residents to make sure their pets are microchipped. To help with this initiative, St. Lucie County is offering free lifetime registration/microchips for pets that belong to residents in the unincorporated area of the county (outside city limits) throughout the month of June. Residents of the City of Fort Pierce and City of Port St. Lucie may also participate in this event at a cost of $10 for each lifetime registration microchip.

Microchips are beneficial in the event the pet goes missing, is found and/or is brought to a veterinary facility or Animal Services to be scanned for a microchip. The owner’s information is attached to the microchip, allowing the pet owner to be contacted immediately. so they can be reunited with their pet. Everyone knows how easy it can be to lose track of your pet, even for a second. This month aims to reduce pet owners’ stress and worry if their pets go missing by encouraging microchipping.

Pre-registration is required for the National Microchip Month initiative to ensure accuracy in the information being assigned to the microchip and timely service on the day of the appointment. There is a limit to five (5) microchips per household. To pre-register, emailacvoucher@stlucieco.org and attach a copy of your driver’s license or Florida ID and current proof of residency that lists your current address. In the email, please also include the following information which will be assigned to your pet’s microchip once it has been implanted:

  • Your first and last name
  • Address
  • Phone number
  • Your email address
  • Emergency contact (name and number)

  • Sex of animal (male/female; spayed/neutered or intact)
  • Age of animal
  • Breed of animal (mixed is not a recognized breed)
