The Bulldogs beat Ocala-Vanguard 3-sets to one on Saturday to win the FHSAA Class 7A State Volleyball Championship game, played at West Port High School. South Fork has dominated the playoffs. The set that they lost on Saturday was the only set they lost during the regional and state playoffs. South Fork finished the season 28-5.
This is the first State Championship for South Fork’s volleyball team, and the first girls team title in school history.
While the girls celebrate their hard earned victory, some of the boys teams on the Treasure Coast are looking to add a state title to their trophy case as well. The first round of the football playoffs were Friday night, and it was a good night for the Treasure Coast teams.
Vero Beach scored on their first four possessions and rolled past Ridge Community High School 42-28. Martin County’s defense forced 3 turnovers to beat Lake Nona 35-14. Treasure Coast forced 4 turnovers to stun Osceola 28-27. And Sebastian River picked up their first ever playoff win, beating Palm Coast-Matanzas 10-0. Meanwhile, Fort Pierce Westwood, John Carroll and Okeechobee lost their playoff games. The second round of the playoffs starts Friday night. Martin County is on the road to take on district rival Viera, while Treasure Coast tries to knock off another state power in Vero Beach.
