A tip from the community led PSL police to Terry’s home in Port St. Lucie.

The smash-and-grab burglar who hit over 20 stores along the Treasure Coast spent the holiday weekend behind bars. Gerles W. Terry was arrested shortly after committing two more burglaries in Port St. Lucie. A tip from the community led PSL police to Terry’s home in Port St. Lucie. Detectives seized Terry’s late model Buick Park Avenue, which was seen in video at many of the crime scenes. He was taken into custody and charged with two felony burglary charges. Detectives suspect Terry could be responsible for at least twenty smash and grab burglaries to businesses in Martin, St. Lucie, and Indian River Counties. Terry is a registered sex offender, who was released from prison in 2015. The smash and dash suspect caused thousands of dollars in damage to small businesses throughout the area.
