Sheriff’s Office Arrests Husband and Wife for Multiple Counts of Child Abuse and Neglect
Sheriff Ken Mascara announced that detectives arrested Kristofer Dane White, 32, and Ashley Lynn White, 26, for charges related to child abuse and neglect.
According to the Sheriff, information from a concerned family member prompted the investigation into the Whites and led to an interview with the 15-year-old victim and two witnesses that substantiated the claims of battery, neglect and false imprisonment.
“Children are one of the most vulnerable members of our society,” said Sheriff Ken J. Mascara. “Our office takes serious any claim of abuse toward a child and investigates them thoroughly. This case is of utmost concern, not only because of its severity, but because the suspect is a member of the law enforcement profession.”
According to the Sheriff, Kristofer White is employed by the Florida Department of Corrections at the Martin Correctional Institution.
Based on the statements made by the victim and medical staff that evaluated him, detectives concluded that malnutrition was evident, Sheriff Mascara said.
According to the Sheriff, further evidence also revealed that the victim was frequently beaten and held against his will in his room for several hours each day, secured by a lock on the outside of the door.
Kristofer White was booked into the St. Lucie County Jail and held on a $50,000 bond. Ashley White was booked into the St. Lucie County Jail and held on a $30,000 bond.
