As shark populations start to show more signs of coming back, and human encounters with these predatory fish increase, Florida shark authority George Burgess says it’s up to us to be more aware of these critters.
It’s easier for us to be more wary than it is for them to change millions of years of hard-wired instinct.
Burgess says that human populations are increasing even as shark populations start their come-back. That all but guarantees more interactions between us and them. But we’ll need to remember that, when we swim, we’re in their element … so respect and caution are in order.
