 Pedestrian dead after being struck by a pickup on U.S. 1 in St. Lucie

St. Lucie County, Fl (treasurecoast.com)- A Pedestrian is dead after being struck by a pickup on U.S. 1 in St. Lucie County.

The crash happened about 7:20 p.m. Sunday at U.S. 1 and St. Lucie Boulevard in  St. Lucie County, the FHP stated.

Here are the details from FHP:

Vehicle 1 was a pickup truck driven by a 60 yo male.

V-1, a silver Toyota Tacoma, was traveling northbound on US Highway 1 at a high rate of speed approaching St. Lucie Boulevard. A pedestrian (P-1) was attempting to cross the northbound lanes on US Highway in an east direction. P-1 entered the northbound lanes and the front right of V-1 struck P-1. V-1 failed to stop and continued traveling northbound on US Highway 1. P-1 came to final rest on US Highway north of the intersection. P-1 was pronounced deceased on scene by Fire Rescue paramedics.

The driver of V-1 (D-1) returned to the scene in V-1. Damage to the Toyota Tacoma matched parts found at the scene. The case remains under investigation and criminal charges are pending.

At this time, P-1 is an unknown white male.
