Okeechobee Sheriff: Suspect charged with first-degree murder
Okeechobee, Fl (treasurecoast.com) -The Okeechobee Sheriff has reported that a suspect has been charged with first degree murder.
Here are the details
Early Monday morning, January 16th, 2023, deputies with the Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office discovered a deceased individual in a wooded area off NE 14th Avenue in the Douglas Park subdivision of Okeechobee County.
The deceased’s identity is known; however, the family has enacted Marcy’s Law; therefore, the identity will not be revealed.
The deceased was the victim of a criminal act. The mechanism of death will not be released at this time.
On Friday, June 2nd, 2023, the subsequent follow-up investigation led to arrest warrants being issued charging James Doheny, 40, of Okeechobee for:
– One count of Accessory After the Fact to First Degree Murder, FS 782.04, Bond: $250,000.00
– One count of Destroying/Tampering with or Fabricating Physical Evidence, FS 918.13, Bond$10,000.00
– One count of Mishandling Dead Human Remains, FS 497.386, Bond $5,000.00
The investigation is continuing.
