Notable drug trafficker arrested in Martin County
Hobe Sound, Fla -A notable drug trafficker is off the streets as overdoses rise in Martin County.
According to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, the number of overdoses in our area is rising.
Martin County Sheriff’s Office Narcotic Detectives continue their efforts to get dangerous and addictive drugs off of our streets.
Since the beginning of the year, local law enforcement has responded to 55-reported overdoses of which 11 have resulted in deaths.
This recent notable arrest of 48-year old Segundo Ascencio of Hobe Sound occurred last month.
Following an investigation, detectives with MCSO’s Special Investigations Section arrested Ascencio. He was charged with possession of GHB, trafficking in methamphetamine, possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia, 3-counts possession of methamphetamine, and 3-counts sale of methamphetamine. Segundo sold methamphetamine during a reverse drug operation in February. MCSO Detectives along with DEA Agents executed a search warrant on Segundo’s Hobe Sound home in March. That is where they located the narcotics including pre-loaded hypodermic syringes.
Segundo Ascencio remains in the Martin County jail with a $196,000 bond.
