New raised island on Floresta will prevent direct north and south access

Port St. Lucie, Fl- While Port St Lucie eagerly awaits the opening of the Crosstown Parkway Bridge and gaining another east-west crossing of the St Lucie River, it appears the town is losing a north-south route as well. Starting tomorrow, a new intersection is coming to the Floresta and Crosstown Parkway that will prevent motorists from driving north and south through the intersection on Floresta Drive. A raised island is coming to the middle of the intersection.

Traffic on Crosstown Parkway will be unaffected. Traffic on Floresta will be forced to make a right at the intersection. Then, it will  travel down Crosstown to designated U-turn signals.  After that it will travel back to the intersection before turning onto Floresta Drive. After all that you will be able to continue in the direction you were originally heading.

Construction on the new intersection begins tomorrow. It will be complete when the bridge opens to the public on September 28th.
