The Treasure Coast will soon gain a new hospital in Port St. Lucie as Florida Coast Medical Center – a project by Tenet Health and Palm Beach Health Network – prepares to open its doors. Scheduled to welcome patients by mid-September 2025, the 185,000-square-foot, 54-bed hospital will provide essential healthcare services to Port St. Lucie and its rapidly growing population.
The state-of-the-art new hospital in Port St. Lucie will be located at 310 SE Veranda Falls Way, near Florida’s Turnpike and Becker Road. It will be the third facility of its kind in Port St. Lucie and the fourth in St. Lucie County. Tenet Health, which operates outpatient surgery centers in Vero Beach, Port St. Lucie, Jensen Beach, and Stuart, is expanding its presence on the Treasure Coast with this being its first hospital in the area.
Florida Coast Medical Center Services and Facility Features
Florida Coast Medical Center will offer a range of specialized healthcare services, including:
- 24-hour emergency care
- Neurosciences
- Orthopedic & spine services
- Robotic & general surgery
- Urology
- Advanced cardiac care
- Diagnostic imaging
The facility will aim to address the increasing healthcare needs of Port St. Lucie residents, providing critical services closer to home for some residents who feel underserved. The hospital will be about eight miles from HCA Florida St. Lucie Hospital, nine miles from Cleveland Clinic Tradition Hospital, and 20 miles from HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital in Fort Pierce.
Catering to a Growing Population
Port St. Lucie has been experiencing substantial population growth in recent years. Between 2020 and 2023, the city recorded the second-fastest growth rate among U.S. metropolitan areas with populations of over half a million. This boom has created an urgent demand for expanded healthcare facilities and municipal services.
To meet this demand, other hospitals in the region are also investing in expansions. HCA Florida St. Lucie Hospital, for example, is adding 35 new surgical beds, 33 women’s health beds, and a 75,000-square-foot medical office building. Cleveland Clinic has acquired 44 acres near its Tradition Hospital, though plans for the site remain undisclosed.
Hospital Construction Milestones & Project Details
The Florida Coast Medical Center project reached a major milestone in July 2024 when its final structural beam was installed. This progress keeps the project on track for its planned 19-month timeline, with Robins & Morton, a Florida-based healthcare construction firm, overseeing the build.
In addition to its primary hospital services, the new facility will feature associated medical office buildings for patient access to physicians and specialized outpatient services. Tenet’s new hospital in Port St. Lucie will support these ambulatory services and hopes to reinforce the network’s commitment to accessible, high-quality healthcare.
Strategic Location for the Treasure Coast Community
The new hospital’s strategic location near major routes such as Florida’s Turnpike positions it well to serve residents across the Treasure Coast. It brings many nearby resources to Port St. Lucie’s doorstep and is surrounded by areas of Tradition and Southern Grove with huge plans for growth.
With Port St. Lucie’s population growth forecast showing continued expansion, Florida Coast Medical Center represents an advancement in the area’s healthcare landscape that would allow more access to residents. By the projected completion in 2025, the hospital will provide residents with more localized, comprehensive healthcare options, addressing the pressing needs of a rapidly expanding city.
