Multiple crashes in Fort Pierce yesterday resulted in one person dead and over a dozen more people sent to the hospital.
The first accident happened just after 6:30 a.m. yesterday morning on Orange Avenue and Minute Maid Road, about 10 miles west of the Florida Turnpike. A car and multi-passenger van collided. The Florida Highway Patrol said first responders found a man dead inside a badly damaged gray Toyota. Investigators believe he hit the white Ford van head-on, but investigators don’t know why. The Florida Highway Patrol says the van was carrying 12 migrant farm workers. The driver was listed in critical condition. All the other passengers were transported to the hospital with minor to serious injuries.
The second crash sent four people to the hospital. Two cars collided head-on at Midway Road and Eleven Mile Road. 3 of the victims suffered critical injuries.
