Motorcyclist critically injured; man charged over the weekend

 Port St. Lucie, Fl  (treasurecoast.com)  – On August 15, 2021, at approximately 10:00am, Port St Lucie Police Officers responded to the area of SE Kaspar Dr and SE Sandia Dr in reference to a motor vehicle crash involving a motorcycle

The defendant, Gabriel Francisco , was traveling North on SE Sandia Dr.  He slowed and turned West on SE Kaspar Dr.  Francisco turned into the path of the motorcyclist who was traveling South on SE Sandia Dr. The adult motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. Francisco was driving a green minivan.

The motorcyclist was taken to Lawnwood Hospital in critical condition.  He remains in critical condition as of today. PSLPD Traffic Homicide Investigators continue to investigate this accident.  It does not appear at this time that speed of either vehicle was a contributing factor.

Francisco was arrested on scene and charged with Florida State Statue 322.34 (6)(a) Any person who operates a motor vehicle: (a) Without having a driver license as required under s. 322.03 and who by careless or negligent operation of the motor vehicle causes the death of or serious bodily injury to another human being commits a felony of the third degree.
