MC Tax Collector warns of recent Scam
The Martin County tax collector’s office is warning the public about a recent scam.
The scammers are sending emails demanding payment for a red light camera citation.
The emails usually have the subject “Notice of Traffic Violation.” They claims to come from the Department of Motor Vehicles.
The fake emails claim that the residents have 72 hours to pay the citation, and three links are provided that claim to show the victim an image of the violation taken by the red light camera.
Martin County Tax Collector Ruth Pietruszewski has said the emails are a scam. If you receive the email do not click on the links.
