Martin Schools Provide Free Food for Students

School is out in Martin County, but that doesn’t mean the schools will stop providing food for students.

The Martin County School District will provide free meals to children during the months of June, July and August 2015. The meals will be served at several school locations for any child under the age of 18.

There are no income requirements or registration. The Summer Food Service Program ensures that low-income children continue to receive nutritious meals when school is not in session.

Laura Roberts, the Director of Food and Nutrition Services with the Martin County School District says that the Summer Food Service Program provides free, nutritious meals and snacks to help children get the nutrition they need to learn, play, and grow, throughout the summer months when they are out of school.

Nutritionally balanced meals will be provided to all children during summer vacation when school breakfasts and lunches are not available.

For more information, including a listing of participating schools, contact Tina Jensen in the Martin County School District Food and Nutrition Services Department at 772-223-2655 Ext. 110.
