On Monday morning, a Martin County parks and recreation worker was shocked as he was trimming a tree. The county worker was up in a bucket lift when he nearly cut through a power line. The accident happened in front of three other employees. Gabriella Ferraro with Martin County says all park and recreation workers were called in to ensure they know how to safely cleanup after a storm.
Ferraro said they are optimistic the county worker will survive because he was conscious when being airlifted from the park. The worker, who’s been with the county for three and a half years, is currently being treated at the burn center in Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami. Ferraro said the county is investigating to see if procedures were followed and if any other factors played a role in the incident.
